Frari Venice Choir Titian Assumption

Visit the Gothic Frari Church to see some of the best art in Venice, including Titian's Assumption

The first thing most visitors notice is the massive altarpiece behind the high altar: the Assumption of the Virgin, painted between 1516 and 1518 by Tiziano Vecellio, or Titian.

Behind the main altar stands one of the most intricate features of the Frari: the 15th-century choir stalls carved by Marco Cozzi. These wooden seats are arranged in two levels and include a stunning array of inlaid panels depicting saints, biblical stories, and ornamental patterns.
