The first thing most visitors notice is the massive altarpiece behind the high altar: the Assumption of the Virgin, painted between 1516 and 1518 by Tiziano Vecellio, or Titian.
Behind the main altar stands one of the most intricate features of the Frari: the 15th-century choir stalls carved by Marco Cozzi. These wooden seats are arranged in two levels and include a stunning array of inlaid panels depicting saints, biblical stories, and ornamental patterns.
